The Impact of Mindfulness Practices on Chronic Conditions

Holly will be discussing the benefits of meditation, mindfulness, and mind-body stress reduction practices for people with a variety of chronic conditions.  She will share some of the recent research that has been done on yoga’s effectiveness and impact as well as sharing the research from her inpatient yoga programs at the Charles George VA Medical Center.  She will be leading a short, accessible, chair-based yoga and mindfulness session at the end of the talk that will involve breathing exercises, gentle stretches, and a guided relaxation!

SPEAKER BIO

Holly Edmondson currently teaches veterans and active military through the Charles George VA Medical Center, community programs and the National Guard Armory. She is an alliance teacher with the Veteran’s Yoga Project and head of the Light a Path Veteran’s Yoga Program.  Holly will obtain her 500 Hour Registered Yoga Teacher Certification in therapeutically oriented yoga and will be starting her Masters in Social Work at ETSU this summer. Holly believes we all deserve access to resources that can help us grow resilience, connection, and gratitude in our lives and communities.
